The European Commission – Award to the University of Economics in Bratislava  for Success in Implementing the ERASMUS Program

Based on the call of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission of October 27, 2008, and via the National Agency for Life-long Learning Programme (SAAIC) the University of Economics in Bratislava (International Relations Office) submitted its application in the competition involving the University in “Erasmus Success Stories Brochure 2009”. The submission of this application was motivated by the University’s positive outcomes achieved in the long-term horizon in fulfilling the Erasmus Program (formerly, the Socrates Program) and by the recommendations of the representatives of the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission who in the fall 2008 carried out a personal audit at the International Relations Office. They indicated their appreciation of the level of fulfillment of the Erasmus Program by the University of Economics in Bratislava verbally after the audit and subsequently in writing.

On January 7, 2009, in its letter addressed to the University of Economics in Bratislava, the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission stated:

The European Commission received 67 proposals from 23 countries. All of the proposals were assessed by two independent experts and I am pleased to inform you that your proposal expresses not only the impressive extent of the activities designated for sent and received students but a great sense of quality; it also carries exceptional features which we hope will become the subject of wider interest and will serve as a stimulus for further improvement.

I am pleased to inform you that your institution will be included in this year’s “Erasmus Brochure of Success Stories”.

On the occasion of the recent conference “Creativity and Innovation” organized in Prague, the competition outcomes were officially announced.

The University of Economics in Bratislava was included among the most successful schools involved in the Erasmus Program and the information about the University was publicized in “Erasmus Success Stories Brochure 2009”.

We perceive this award as a high acknowledgment and evidence of the continuing improvement of the international prestige of the University of Economics in Bratislava.
