The University of Economics in Bratislava has attained a major achievement concerning the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The University has been awarded funds for several of its projects aiming not only to strengthen its research potential but also to contribute towards upgrading its education programmes and infrastructure.

Projects funded from the Recovery and Resilience Plan focus on a variety of fields, ranging from digitalisation of education, to sustainable development support to innovations in economic and business models.

As of today, EUBA and its faculties submitted 37 projects funded from various Recovery and Resilience Plan calls.

Following the evaluation of some of the calls, EUBA has so far obtained funding for the implementation of three major projects:

Consortium of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and the University of Economics in Bratislava

Out of all projects submitted, expert evaluators awarded the most points to the SUT and EUBA consortium. The project was approved in the total requested amount of EUR 50,000,000, of which EUR 16,600,000 is committed for EUBA's activities.

The project's basic strategic objective is creating an infrastructure that will enable implementation of integrated processes of education, research and cooperation with the business environment with a strong international dimension on the basis of best international practice. This way of operation for the consortium will provide a strong impetus for both universities to raise excellence and quality of the services rendered and activities performed.

As part of the project, EUBA, together with the SUT, will also develop 6 new joint study programmes, of which 3 study programmes are to be developed by EUBA's Faculty of Business Management and the SUT's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, 2 study programmes by EUBA's Faculty of Commerce and the SUT's Faculty of Architecture and Design, and 1 study programme by the Faculty of Economics and Finance and the SUT's Faculty of Informatics and Information Technology. The project will also see renovation and upgrading of the building V1 and V2 premises, renovation of the Slovak Economic Library's premises and construction of the innovative Business Lab as well as integration of some library, publishing and IT systems.

The project forms part of a broader long-term strategic objective aimed at creating a modern interdisciplinary Science Hill campus to include other institutions in addition to the SUT and EUBA in the future, primarily the Comenius University in Bratislava and the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Comprehensive upgrade of buildings and student dormitories of public and state higher education institutions

The main objective of this call was to support higher education institutions in renovating higher education buildings and dormitories, providing primary energy savings in excess of 30 per cent. In this call EUBA obtained funds to implement two projects totalling EUR 3,932,481. One of the projects involves renovation of the student dormitory at Starohájska 4, and the other one thermal insulation of the roof and façade of, and window replacement, in the "Školička" building.

Call to support projects promoting higher educations institutions in foreign countries

This call purports to raise the profile of Slovakia as a partner and a destination for higher education students and employees, and to present the country's potential in higher education, science and research.

In this call, EUBA, as one of ten higher education institutions, obtained the project and funds totalling EUR 455,000. Under this call, EUBA intends to actively participate in international exhibitions with a view to entering into new partnerships, supporting networking and profiling the university at an international level in accordance with established national and European strategies as an institution compliant with international standards in all areas of its activities. Considering that EUBA wishes to engage in partnerships with prestigious universities across all continents, participation in international fairs and exhibitions is a unique opportunity for achieving the set strategic goals in internationalisation as well as for meeting the criteria laid down by the AACSB Accreditation Committee.

"These projects acquired from the Recovery and Resilience Plan open up new opportunities for EUBA, its students and the academic community at large. In addition to providing direct benefits to the University, they also strengthen the Universitys position in the international academic environment and contribute to reaching the European Union's objectives for innovations, sustainable development and digital transformation. This achievement is the result of continuous quality improvements in all areas of the University's activities. EUBA thus responds to current global challenges, demonstrating preparedness to make its contribution to solving social issues through research and education in line with the University's mission, vision and strategic objectives," said University Rector Ferdinand Daňo.
