On the 13th of January 2020, the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava, Ferdinand DAŇO, received Mr Emad ORFALY, the Consul of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic based in Vienna at his own request. The consul was accompanied by the President of the Slovak-Syrian Chamber of Commerce and Culture, Ing. Dr. Ali ASSAD, PhD. The Consul handed over a letter from the Rector of the University of Damascus to the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava. As it was his first visit to Slovakia, our guest was interested in the academic cooperation of the UE in Bratislava with university institutions in Syria, where he expressed his readiness to support its development as much as possible. Between 2017 and 2019, a mobility project was implemented at the University of Economics in Bratislava under the Erasmus + Key Action 107 program with Tishreen University in Latakia. Boris MATTOŠ, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, informed our guest about the international cooperation.

The University of Economics in Bratislava is offering new language courses for future applicants willing to study in Slovak language. We start in January 2020 with Intensive Language and Academic Preparation for Foreigners in Slovak Language for applicants from Slavic countries and in September 2020 we start 10 month long Language and Academic Preparation for Foreigners in Slovak Language for all interested students.

The University of Economics in Bratislava in cooperation with the NGO Smile as a Gift organize for the third time the Give Joy and Smile #3 collection, where you can donate sweets, children's books, school supplies, board games or sanitary supplies to children from children's homes and crisis centres.

From 13 to 17 November 2019, EUBA students attended the 5th World International Games in Pula, Croatia. This year's championship was marked by records, with up to 2200 students from 22 countries and 62 universities participating on the event. The games were running in 12 sports disciplined. EUBA students fought in the athletics, basketball, football, table tennis, badminton and swimming.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of police cynology in Slovakia, Mr Ján Dudák, Director of the Department of Cynology and Hippology of the Presidium of the Police Force of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic awarded a Plaque of the Director of the Department of Cynology and Hippology III. Class to Mr Ferdinand Daňo, Rector of the University of Economics Bratislava as a sincere acknowledgement for long-term cooperation, helpfulness and significant personal contribution of the University of Economics in Bratislava to the activities of the Department of Cynology and Hippology of the Presidium of the Police Force of the Slovak Republic.

On the occasion of International Student Day and the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, the Rector of the EUBA presented a motivational scholarship to sixteen EUBA students for excellent results in their studies and in sports. The ceremony took place on 27 November 2019 as a part of the regular session of the College of the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava.

The University of Economics in Bratislava is the first university in Slovakia to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Chartered Intitute of Management Accountants (CIMA). This event is all the more significant as CIMA is celebrating its centenary this year and the EUBA will celebrate its 80th anniversary next year.

On 26 November 2019, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Slovakia, H.E. Mr Vanlalhuma was the last lecturer in the 26th edition of Diplomacy in Practice. In addition to the country's key historical events, the Ambassador Vanlalhuma addressed current issues, emphasizing the country's diversity and the specifics of its political system. He also stressed the importance of this day – 26 November, when India remembers the 70th anniversary of the Constitution.

On 14 and 15 November 2019, the Faculty of Economic Informatics of the University of Economics in Bratislava, together with the Slovak Society for Economic Informatics, organized a scientific conference 100 Years of Statistics in Czechoslovakia - Statistics Yesterday, Today and Current Challenges for the Future. The Conference was held under the auspices of the Chairman of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic Ing. Alexander Ballek and Dean of the Faculty of Economic Informatics prof. Ing. Ivan Brezina, CSc. and focused on the history of statistics in the former Czechoslovakia and in present Slovakia on the occasion of 100 years of statistics in Czechoslovakia.
